Return of the bad network connections

Indicast was hit by bad network connections in India again. All the participants logged in from their homes in Mumbai and Pune for E9 but the net connection just wasnt good enough. We tried recording it but a 5 to 6 second lag was too much to handle. So we have rescheduled it for tomorrow. Sorry for the delay but we thought that we should wait rather than releasing an episode with bad voice quality and delays.

Yours Internetally,
Aditya

Indicast : Episode #8

I am back from India (grrrrr…) and back to my routine in the US. It was too short a trip and I was amazed at the changes I could see and feel all over the place so I persuaded abhishek to talk about it. We also decided to mix it up a bit and let Abhishek play the host for this episode.

Episode Notes:

  • Things they make MBAs do : Sell ACs in winter!!
  • Where are all the malls coming from? There is almost one at every intersection.
  • Indians want to spend money now. No more haggling, just buy it.
  • Indian villages are improving rapidly but still technology adoption is slow.
  • IT = Indian Technology
  • How would Shiv Sena protest against something said on our podcast?

We let the discussion flow in this episode so it might seem erratic but we kept it that way intentionally. Please comment on our show, we like to interact and moreover Abhishek would like to know how he did as a host.

Yours Internetally,
Aditya

Indicast : Episode #7

Rashmi Bansal and Vikram Nanivadekar (Nani) shared the mic with me for this episode. I wanted to be a bit adventurous and record this episode at CCD (my cousin who is in SYJC says calling it Cafe Coffe Day is being “unhip”) but it was just too noisy so we recorded it at JAM’s office.

Since we had someone from print and publishing biz, we talked about some of the changes that are taking place in that world.

  • Want to write for JAM Mag?
  • Rashmi was bothered about was that the publishing houses like Times just want reporters to turn in stories everyday and not give enough time which results in poor journalism.
  • Times of India sucks says Nani
  • India is the 3rd largest publishing country and yet articles are being copied word to word by established magazines.
  • End of days, why doesn’t nani become a journalist.
  • Can an Indian afford Harry Potter for Rs 800
  • Opposition to open the publishing industry for foreign investors

A big Hi-5 to Rashmi and Nani for their participation. The banner pic is dedicated to the local bandwala’s for giving me the opening and concluding dhol music. I got 3 themes from them that they use for lezim and Ganpati visarjan. Just drop in a comment if you want some crazy nasik dhol and I shall upload it.

Aditya

Indicast : Episode #6

This time we have the character of this season from Apprentice - Toral Mehta to join us on Indicast to talk about her stint on Trump’s TV show. (Oh yes, we are trying hard to keep it interesting so its a welcome break from our blah blah). She was fired in the 4th episode but she says that she is more remembered than other participant who went even further in the job interview. This episode is a bit longish since there was a lot to talk about. We Thank Toral for being on Indicast and also her secretary, Cathryn and Dominic for helping us get on her schedule quickly.

Toral Mehta

As usual keep the comments flowing and help us spread the word.

Episode notes (links):

  • Intro music extracted from Josh Remix of Powerless.
  • Toral explains us about apprentice and the interview process.
  • Toral has trademarked “Toral”.
  • The cast could have been a lot better, says Toral
  • “Mera to number lag gaya na”

Yours internetally,
Aditya
P.S: The voice quality is a bit shady since Toral was on her cell phone and the rains marred our chances of a one-on-one interview. Sorry about that!!
