Episode 12 is out
We are back after a 3 week hiatus and we apologise for that but the schedules kept clashing. That’s the trouble having a sales guy as a co-host
. We used up this entire episode to talk about things that happened in 2005. Rediff had a special end of the year article about various things about 2005. So we picked the top ten things that made us (Indians) happy in 2005 and top ten trends that rocked India in 2005.
We once again beg for your comments so please let us know what you think about our episodes and do refer us to your friends
Another announcement, we have released the episode in 48kpbs so the file is much smaller in size which has been highly requested by our listeners. Now, people in India have one less thing to complain about in life.
Episode Notes:
- We spent the entire episode talking about Rediff’s year end special.
- Top 10 things that made us feel good this year.
- Kudos to all the people who helped people during the floods all over the country.

Hi guys..
listened to ur last episode. here are a few comments.
1. abu salem’s issue is not a trivial issue. He is single handedly responsible for killing many indians. And we are still dilly dallying about how we should handle him. So the issue is defintely more than worth talking about.
2. Do you prefer to fly in Dawoods Jet (and now Sahara as well) air, as opposed to our good ol Indian airlines?? Our country, how ever crappy they may look to a few snobs, are our own..and the last thing we should be doing is ridiculing their efforts to come up.
3. Great to hear about the water tragedy and all that ‘unity beyond religion’ stuff..but when u say that pls dont stop after saying hindus stayed in masjids..pls mention how mullas stayed in temples as well. And if we dint let them anywhere near our temples, thats cos they dont deserve to be there..they should be in Pakistan. and we have shown enough secularism by tolertaing the mullas and the rest of the lot..
Hope u dont mind my criticisms..
Overall u guys have put in a great effort
and Im not a one off critic with an attitude..so watch this space..

Krishnan,
Abu salem’s issue is definitely not trivial. We didnt talk about it a lot since there has been a lot written about it in all forms of media. We were just trying to make better use of our 15 minutes.
About the airline comment, if your arguement about underworld having their money in the airline industry has to be taken in consideration, then government will have to get into producing films as well. We have to understand what role the government wants to play and now that Indian companies have taken interest in air travel; How should government change its strategy. Indian Airlines made sense when there was no sahara, kingfisher, goair etc.
And your comment about unity during floods really surprised me. You start off well and then lost me towards the end. I dont have anything to say to that comment.
Comment by Aditya — January 19, 2006 @ 7:04 pm
Aditya,
Most of the stuff you guys speak about are written about somewhere else. So thats an excuse which wont sell.
Are you saying that we should legalize underlworld involvement in Films and now Airlines? There is enough ‘white money’ in India that we dont need the darker version for this sort of stuff anymore.
FYI, Indian govt does produce movies..its called NFDC. Please check it out.
Let me clarify my point on Mullas and Temples. Secularism is portrayed as something only Hindus should possess and practice. Muslims and Xtians can have, say and do whatever crap they want. And Hindus just let it happen. ‘’Wanna print Vishnu on ur Chaddi??? Be my guest…'’ Thats the sort of attitude Hindus seem to be having. And when media especially Hindu media endorse such views, the feeling gets reinforced.(at least in Mullah and Xtian heads). So when u start off by saying how secular it was during crisis and then give an example of Hindus taking refuge in Mosques, it frankly irritates me. It has reached such a point that Hindus are fed up with being secular. VHP recently reconverted 100 odd Xtians back to Hinduism and I think thats a good way to start. Our neighbour is not gonna be secular, ever..so lets put our foots down and return the favour, shall we?.

Dear Krishnan,
Let us take it one by one, shall we?
1) “Most of the stuff that we talk about is written or said in some form or the other through the media.”
Yeah, you are right. No points for guessing that. But, we’d rather talk about some topic that has not been beaten to death by the media (IIPM Vs. Gaurav Sabnis) or something that adds value (FDI in india, though our talk of 15 minutes may be a bit amateurish) or something that we feel very passionatly about (the Sachin episode). If the media chooses to talk about what Abu Salem wears to court and speculates about what his girlfriend is doing while she is away, it is only because it has got an audience. While media is only pandering to the voyeuristic demands of the masses (which includes you), we choose not to be a party to it. That’s all.
2) “Are you saying that we should legalize underlworld involvement in Films and now Airlines?”
Well, your conclusion is based on your whims. I say this because, not once in our episode have we even hinted or encouraged the notion of legalising the involvement of the underworld in films (and airlines, since you mentioned that too). All we say is that the Government should act as the facilitator and allow the entrepreneurs run the show. Here is an example why -
The TATAs made 119 proposals between 1960 and 1989 to start new businesses or start old ones, and all of them were filed and forgotten. Aditya Birla, the young inheritor of the Birla empire, who had trained at MIT was so disillusioned with the Indian policy that he decided to expand Birla enterprises outside India, and eventually set up dynamic companies in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Phillipines, away from the hostile atmosphere of his home. But, you come from the Nehruvian school of though that sees competition as wasteful and I am glad that there are very few like you here in India.
3) Secularism -
You seem to squander words like ’secularism’ very liberally. While you blame the mullas for their existence, you do not seem to come up with a valid reason to support the argument (which even if you do will be seriously flawed… keep reading; you’ll know why. I assume you are wise. i understand that you are a doctor). If you feel, changing once religion by force is the way to go, then you are only kidding yourself!
I think you have got your basics wrong. You blame the religion, Islam and not that notorious section of the religion which wreaks havoc in the community. You patronise hinduism and fail to acknowledge that there are animals in the face of humans who can do a Godhra over and over again.
You romance religion to such an extent that it is appalling. It is hard to reason with you on that front. So, i would not waste your time (and more importantly mine) in doing so.
Thank you for ackowledging our work in your first comment. We invite

You have crossed the limits of decency by resorting to personal abuse. I dont care what somebodys girlfriend wears or not wears wherever. If you do, thats your problem.
You are blissfully ignorant of more important facts i.e . what would India do to a terrorist after the hazzle of extradition, cos the next one in line is Dawood Ibrahim. We expect some intelligent forward looking journo to talk about it, but do not worry, you are definitely not one of them.
You represent the mass media which is so foolishly ignorant and naive about the realities of current affairs. this is mainly because you are still in that cocoon which the ’secular India’ has created around you. And if you think by being in america metamorphosises you out of it, you are so horribly wrong, because you still are too naive to understand the nuances of religion politics. What you need is experience in the real world. May be two days in a room with a Pakistani would sort your lot out. You will get there someday. If you hate hinduism, you are more than welcome to get out and leave the religion in peace. good riddance to bad rubbish , thats what I say.
You also demonstrate your lack of concentration rather vividly when you blabber about changing ones religion by force. It is the mullas and xtians who have done that, and what VHP did was to RECONVERT them. (emhasis on the RE). Hope you have got it this time.
I dont know what your point about Birla was. Really, dont you think Birla would be kicking himself cos he is not getting a piece of the multi billiion dollar pie?? cos most others here in the west are running to invest in India. there is nothing wrong with the policy, it is the corruption which is the problem. Any kid with some brain would know that..and it seems you are just a backward looking dinosaur and people like yourself cannot be dealt with, but there is hope..you lot will get extinct.
Your sentence about Godhra is gramatically incorrect. So it is utter nonsense (like many other things you have to say) to me.
‘’if your arguement about underworld having their money in the airline industry has to be taken in consideration, then government will have to get into producing films as well'’. I think what you meant by this statement is that there is a lot of underworld money in Films and the only way to stop it is by Govt entering the field (implying that there if you cant fightem join em) And the very idea is repulsive. But then, I am not surprised cos it comes from a 20 something kiddo, who thinks he is on the top of the world cos he is in AMERICA and he has got a microphone in his hand. It is hilarious.may be you should look into playstation and leave the mic for professionals.
Anyways..good luck to your future endeavours.. Im not gonna be there ..but yeah..good luck..you will need loads of it.
Krishnan.

This is getting interesting but I have to clarify some stuff here. Abhishek is in India and I am in the US. I say this because you said that I am not at ground zero and facing all the religious politics.
Now, I think what pissed me and Abhishek is your comment about religious things. Abhishek seems to be more sensitive than me about such stuff.
My comment about having government investing in films was sarcastic but it looks like I can’t do sarcasm well. Correct me if I am wrong, but you said govt should be in the aviation business because you prefer that to Dawood’s Jet. But then dawood invests in films as well so does that mean government should get into financing mainstream bollywood films as well? NFDC is required but its not mainstream bollywood. Just to state it explicitly, I am not for government investing in movies.
Another thing, You seem to be pretty upset with me being in AMERICA. Believe me, I am least facinated by this country and yes I am a 20 something kiddo who is using a medium to get my thought out. And I bet you will be downloading our next episode to see blast me on things I say.

Hey Aditya and Abhishek. I have to tell you that I love your show. I heard the one for the NPT on Chutneyradio (since I have a show on there - Sunehre Geet) and I absolutely fell in love with it. I have to tell you that I am rather amused and also irritated by Mr. Krishnan. The reason India has not progressed much from the seperation between Hindus and Muslims since the partition is because of people like Mr. Krishnan. “Mullas belong in Pakistan”? Are you serious? It is people like him that have brought us down to the danga phasaad that we experience and the tension between the two. People belong where they feel at home, where they are accepted and treated well for who they are. Where their heart and soul is, and the country they feel most obliged and patriotic towards. I am a Hindu myself, and I refuse to hear such nonsense from someone who has such a narrow minded intellect. We are all Indian, and we need to accept that. We can never become a developed country until we all work together and become ONE nation regardless of religious beliefs. Mr. Krishnan, I agree with Abhishek when I say that not only is your nonsensical talk proposterous and based on empty facts and twisted beliefs, it is also amusing. Please get a reality check and see that we all need to live together in harmony. The only person who belongs out of India is you. (including your negative beliefs)
Aditya and Abhishek, thank you for creating something that pushes away from the usual and keeps me thoroughly interested. I get the feel that you two are extremely passionate about India, and I can honestly tell you that I feel the same way. I’ve always wanted to make a change, but especially after RDB, my passion has increased, and I am planning on being there soon to start working on those dreams. Please continue giving us your wonderful shows often; I hope that more and more people listen and realize just what needs to be done. Fight on, and take care.
Inqualab Zindabad.
Sincerely from my heart and soul,
Pratiti.

Pratiti,
Its good to see some support for what abhishek and I think when it comes to religion. Some people just dont get it.
About you wanting to do something about India. Whats stopping you?? the dollar to rupee exchange rate I guess??? But the feeling of doing something for your country after watching RDB sounds fantastic but execution is what matter the most.
So let me know when you think of something to do and I’ll be even happier when you actually start doiing it.
Keep listening,
Aditya
