Episode #24 - Shashi and Rakhi

We are back after a long time. Blame it on my laptop which completed its 5th Anniversary and I had to gift it with a new Hard Disk and adorn it with a few accessories. Yeah, it was a costly affair, but, what the heck? We are back! Thank you for all the comments and the patience!

“I am a cheerleader, I am a promoter, I am a salesman, I am a debt collector, I am a father confessor and there are other aspects I still have to discover,” Annan has said in describing his job. Will Shashi Tharoor join the select few from across the globe to head the most important post in the United Nations? We, at Indicast root for him.

Also, Bollywood doesnt stop amazing us especially when its an item girl. When Rakhee did it to a girl, it’s a kiss. When Mika does it to Rakhi, it’s blasphemy! We try to get our minds to decipher this anamoly.

I love it when when we talk on topic as diverse as the ones we covered today. Also to spice it up a bit check out this Rakhi Sawant interview on YouTube. I love the reason she gives for being an item girl. “Mujhe Gaana Pasand hain na”.

Episode Notes:

We also have the most cliched contest going on at Indicast, predict who is going to lift the football word cup this time and we will send you an indicast t-shirt (seriously). This is the first time we are trying something like this so lets see how you guys respond to it. Type in your entry in the comments section.

Yours Internetally,
Aditya

  9. Joe Palos - I hope Brazil find their feet in time.

Marie Rosetti - I am with you! Hail Germany!

Piya - Thanks for all the encouragement. We are going to need it.

Pratiti - Let’s have a formal meet over dinner. What are your terms and conditions to be our face to the world? And more importantly can we afford you!!! BTW thanks for recommending us on your show! :)

Lavanya - We will pool in our life’s savings but, we promise to get that T Shirt out to you. :) But, for that your team has to do you a small favour - WIN!!!

Aditya: There is some good news and some bad. Germany and Argentina have both qualified to the next round. Now, the bad news is that both will go at each other in the Quarter Finals, much too early to our comfort!!!

GeniousOid: I have nothing to say to you! We are meeting tomorrow. Calti mat de! How long has it been? A year?

  13. Episode #24 was great guys, keep it up! As for the World Cup - I think Argentina will lift the trophy. I hope Ghana does well though - they’re a great up-and-comer story.

Say, I was just reading about this guy who is promoting “Web Vaastu” - any thoughts?

    Comment by Shalin — June 26, 2006 @ 5:35 pm

  14. Hiren: Yeah, Ghana Zindabad! That will send the bookie community into oblivion for the next couple of world cups!!! Good Luck with your bet! It’s a bold one, I must say.

Shalin: Welcome back! So, you too are with Aditya. Let me be diplomatic and say, ‘let the better team win the next round tie between Argentina and Germany. But, whatever the result, it’s going to be the match of the World Cup!
Web Vaastu!!! Designing websites according to Vaastu so that it gets you “good results”. That’s an interesting topic to be discussed! Thanks for that!

  15. I specialized in e-commerce at CMU. I strongly believe in Human Computer Interactions (HCI) and all the research that is being done in that field. Now some desi gathers up all the HCI details and calls its Web Vaastu. It has nothing to do with our the ancient art of building a house which is called vaastu shastra. So I think its just a branding thing but the concepts are based on HCI research and there is nothing Indian about it.

For example : One of the barriers to online shopping occurs when customers have difficulty finding their way around the online storefront. In fact, a PriceWaterhouse Coopers (2001) survey found that 40% of the respondents indicated that being unfamiliar with the storefront was a barrier to their online shopping. Moreover, Zona Research (2000) reported that 33% of the people surveyed indicated having difficulty locating products, and 62% indicated giving up looking for merchandise items because they could not find them. Thus, an important advantage for online companies would be to place key web objects, such as the online shopping cart and help button, where they would be expected to be located by a majority of the users. This study sought to investigate user expectations on the location of common e-commerce web objects on a typical website.
