Two desis in a Pod

I get a call from a friend at 7.30 AM on a sunday morning, and instead of a good morning, I hear him say “Salla kya kya kida karta hain tu, you have become a page 18 celebrity!!!”

“Two Desis in a Pod” - that’s the latest term coined for us. That was the headline of a story Mid-day carried on podcasting. For those who dont know, Mid-Day is one of Mumbai’s oldest tabloid newspapers.

We had done this interview a week back but didnt want to spill the beans coz the publish date wasn’t finalized by then. But abhishek and I were pleasantly surprised when the headline itself was based on Indicast.

We have received a lot of pictoral as well as editorial coverage in the article by the grace of Roshni Baja, the pretty reporter (believe me, it’s an understatement) from Mid-Day. Also, A big thumbs up to Mid-day’s lensman.

IndiCast’s Silver Jubilee

The next episode is going to be Indicast’s 25th production and so we are hyping it bit by getting a very interesting guest on the show. We have had celebrities and other guests on our show but none like this person. He has a simple BA degree but is considered a managment guru by the likes of Harvard, IIMs, ISB, LSB etc.

He heads an organization that provides customer satisfaction and has operational efficiencies that all fortune 500 companies desire but never achieve. His employees are semi literate yet have exceeded all six sigma and ISO standards. Any guess about the organzations I am referring to?

The “CEO” of this organization spared a few hours last sunday to talk to us. Almost the entire podcast is in hindi but for people who dont understand hindi ask your Indian colleagues to tell you about it.

So behold for Indicast’s 25th episode. Releasing on 3rd July, 2006

Abhishek’s Hardware Woes (no pun intended)

Here is another “we are sorry” post from Indicast. Abhishek’s 5 year old IBM thinkpad has been acting up a bit and is having problems booting it up. He has tried everything from formatting the machine to getting a new hard drive. But abhishek can’t still get it up (I mean his laptop).

But we’ll definitely try to have a new episode for you by the end of this week or probably early next week. until then we hope you are enjoying the football world cup.

IndiCast covered by BBC and Outlook

The latest feather in IndiCast’s cap is its coverage on BBC Radio. Chris Vallance from BBC Radio FiveLive has a show called Up all night : Pods and Blogs that aires late in the night and talks about blogs and Podcasts from around the world. We spoke about why we podcast and a few other things about IndiCast or “IndiaCast” as Chris likes to call it!! We got a good 5 mins airtime on BBC radio which is pretty good. Boley toh, BBC is a big deal.

This month has been very kind to Indicast. We were also covered by Outlook Magazine and here is the scanned article. This is just the magazine edition and I’ll post the complete interview (online edition) when the reporter, Rana Rosen, sends me the link.

Sometimes we both wonder about all the media attention that we have received. We had never thought that IndiCast would put us on TV, radio and magazines. So for now, life is good. Thanks a lot to all our listeners.

Here is IndiCast’s interview on BBC’s site (Our part begin nearly 30 minutes into the show) but to make things easier, you can use the player below.
